Making a game can be an extremely complex and time-consuming process. In order to achieve a high standard title with next-gen game play a wide range of expertise is needed. Lead Artist

What should I be able to do?

•Work effectively with other members of the studio including designers and programmers.
•Be able to devise a corperate and original visual style for each game.
•Direct the production of the desired visual material.
•Manage the Art Team and motivate them throughout the project.

What skills should I have?
•Extensive understanding of the "Tools of the Trade" including Photoshop, Animation Software etc.
•Logic, Patience, Technique, Artistic, Passionate, Foresight, Diplomacy, Organised, Time Management Skills, Well under Pressure, good with computers.

What qualifications should I have?

•Bachelors Degree in a relevant Art Qualification (Fine Art, Animation or Graphic Design).
•Considerable experience in the industry (usually 5 years plus).
•An extensive porfolio is also required, including 2D and 3D Art.

What are my Roles and Responsibilities?

•Consult with managers and clients about projects.
•To motivate the Art Team and ensure they're working to the best of their abilities.
•Determine the best way to achieve the desired visual outcome, considering software, styles etc.
•Ensure the project runs dilligently and on budget.
•Monitor the overall look of the game, making sure that it's the best it possibly can be.

What's my Work Environment?

•This may vary depending on what company you’re working for, usually the role of Lead Artist is a stressful, well pressurised one. You will have to constantly monitor the output of your department. Your working day may be very busy but with consideration for the future and extensive planning projects should run smoothly.
